Football girls get the goals!

DMA’s girls U14s football team travelled to Norwich to compete in the annual county football tournament held at the Football Development Centre.

Having won last year’s Europa League at the same tournament, the team were promoted to play in the Champions League which featured seven teams in total. Each team faced each other once and DMA managed to win four of their matches and held a draw in the other two.

These results earned the girls a place in the semi-finals where they played Flegg High School, beating them 2-1. In the final, the team played North Walsham in a fiercely fought match running out as 3-0 winners.

The girls played with passion and commitment and proved their promotion into the top league to be well deserved.

Goals were scored by: Lily Porter (3), Rachel Skinner (12), Grace Spencer (5), Elyssia Nurse (1), Alexis Waters (1) and Molly Gromett (3). Ellie Prentice, the team goalkeeper, made some excellent saves throughout the tournament which, at times, kept the team on the winning side.

Mrs Fleming, PE Teacher, said: “This tournament was the final time that this team will play together as several of the girls will now move onto the next age group. I would personally like to congratulate them all on their fantastic achievements throughout and look forward to the next part of their journey.”
